Just in, and sure to depart quickly, a great playing P Bass with an old refinish.

The bass dials in superbly with a fully effective truss rod that allowed us to get the neck just right. And look at that maple!

I acquired the instrument from a gent who bought it in 1971 and gigged it regularly for the next 35 years. As a result, the neck has that played-in feel that can't be replicated. He told me that the bass was refinished to what appears in person to be a dark Sherwood Green like metallic color prior to his purchase. There are a couple spots where the original finish appears to remain, and it looks like it was Lake Placid Blue. The contours of the body all look correct, not rounded off - the body was stripped before refinishing and not sanded. Areas of the finish have reacted with the case lining.

The original pickups are intact. The pots were changed, but the originals are included in the case. One of the tuners was repaired - the original screw and washer that holds the gear are not original. The nut was changed long ago, replaced with a bone nut. The original pickguard has typical cracks, visible in the pics. The parts of the pickguard that cracked by the output jack were glued to the shielding plate that lies under the pickguard.

The frets must have been replaced at some point. There is a lot of life left, and they appear to be of original looking fret material, but with the years of service this bass performed there is no way they could be original.

The case appears original, but it is a Korean made repro.
