Larry Carlton is one of the most recorded guitarists in history — the session player whose tone defined a generation of Los Angeles studio work in the 1970s and 1980s, the man behind the guitar parts on Steely Dan's Aja, Michael Jackson's Off the Wall, and hundreds of other landmark recordings. Sire Guitars, the Vietnamese manufacturer behind Marcus Miller's bass line, launched the Larry Carlton guitar series as a collaboration with Carlton himself — instruments designed to Carlton's specifications at an accessible price point with the setup and component quality that a player of his caliber would demand.

The T3 is the Telecaster-format model in the Carlton line — Indonesian mahogany body in a Tele silhouette, hard maple neck, brass saddle bridge, and Sire's Standard-T single-coil pickups. The mahogany body is the tonal departure from the standard Telecaster platform — warmer and more midrange-focused than ash or alder, with more body resonance and less of the Tele's characteristic spank and snap. The Standard-T pickups read 7.42k neck and 6.21k bridge — the neck notably hotter than the bridge, which is an unusual voicing inversion from standard Tele spec, and worth noting for players who dial between positions. Brass saddles on the fixed Tele bridge contribute sustain and warmth over the standard steel saddle configuration. Sire locking tuners, abalone dot inlays on the hard maple fingerboard at 9.5" radius, 22 frets, C neck profile at .816" at the first fret and .895" at the twelfth, tortoiseshell pickguard. Action set at 2/32" on both strings at the twelfth fret. Excellent condition throughout. No case.
