If there's one microphone every working vocalist, sound engineer, and serious gigging musician already knows by name, it's the SM58. Introduced by Shure in 1966, it became the world standard for live vocal use so fast and so completely that today — nearly 60 years later — it's still the first mic on the stage at most professional shows on the planet. This SM58-LC example is the switchless version preferred by professional FOH engineers and touring vocalists, and it's in mint, unplayed condition in its original box. It doesn't get cleaner than this.

Condition

Mint condition in original box with all original contents. The grille, body, and connector are all flawless. This is as close to new-old-stock as it gets for an SM58.

Excerpts from real online user forums and reviews

  • "The SM58 accentuates the warmth and clarity of lead and backup vocals — brightened midrange and bass rolloff — which has made it the first choice of performers everywhere. I've used the SM58 for years as both a vocal microphone and an instrumental mic, and it has held up wonderfully." — Behind The Mixer
  • "Put simply, for vocal applications, the Shure SM58 has had the market cornered since 1966. Some of music's biggest names, from Paul McCartney to Henry Rollins, swear by the venerable old mic. Built like a warship, sounds great, and can be trusted to deliver show after show." — MusicRadar
  • "It still remains largely unsurpassed as a stage microphone. Few microphones out there can boast the same level of prestige and longevity — despite many technological developments over the decades, few have ever really come close to surpassing it as the industry standard live vocal microphone." — Mixdown Magazine
  • "It has a frequency response of 50Hz–15kHz with slight boosts around the high-mid range, which brightens up the sound in favor of vocals and helps cut through the mix. This is why you see them everywhere." — charlescleyn.com
  • "It goes without saying — no live or studio mic collection is complete without at least a couple of SM58s. As a FOH engineer, I have no doubt I'll be putting a couple up this weekend. It's inevitable." — Mixdown Magazine
