Martin's SC-10E occupies a genuinely interesting position in the acoustic market — it's the company's clearest statement that a serious acoustic guitar doesn't need to be uncomfortable to play or unaffordable to own. The SC body shape (Single Cutaway) gives you unobstructed access to the upper register, and combined with the Low Profile Velocity neck, the result is an acoustic that genuinely plays closer to an electric than most players expect.

This is a 2023 example in Natural, and it's in excellent condition — clean, well cared for, and ready to work.  Having been played in church by a good customer for about a year, the guitar shows some fret and fretboard use without the need for any work for years.  The neck is straight and the truss rod has room for future neck relief adjustments.  The action is low and the saddle is high.  At 4 lbs 1.5 oz, it's one of the lighter acoustics you'll handle at this price point, which matters if you're playing long sets or just spending extended time in the studio.

Construction-wise, you're getting a solid Sitka spruce top over sapele back and sides — a pairing that leans warm and focused rather than the sometimes glassy brightness of spruce-over-rosewood. The mahogany Low Profile Velocity neck measures .825" at the 1st fret and .874" at the 10th, which tells the real story: this is a fast, comfortable neck by any standard. The 16" radius fretboard and 25.4" scale length keep string tension manageable, and the 1-11/16" nut width suits fingerstyle and flatpicking equally well. Action is dialed in at 3/32" on both the 1st and 6th strings at the 12th fret — that's a proper low setup and it plays exactly as clean as those numbers suggest. The Richlite fretboard is Martin's practical alternative to ebony: dimensionally stable, smooth under the fingers, and consistent. Tuners are Gotoh replacements rather than stock — a meaningful upgrade in stability. Onboard electronics are the original Fishman MX-T system with a soundhole-mounted tuner, a straightforward and reliable combination for live use. Comes with a hybrid gig bag.

This guitar is built for the player who wants a responsive, easy-playing acoustic-electric that doesn't require you to fight the instrument — whether you're recording, gigging, or just playing at home. The SC-10E has earned its reputation among working musicians precisely because it removes friction. If you've been put off acoustics by chunky necks and high action, this is the one worth reconsidering.
