This 2012 Martin D-18GE has been played and not babied, but not beaten.  It is ready for you to dig in and play to your heart's content - which you'll want to do once you hear it!

Solid Adirondack spruce over solid genuine mahogany is the combination that produces strong fundamental response, clear note separation, and the kind of open, woody midrange projection that pre-war Martin fans chase. The 1-3/4" nut width, 16" fretboard radius, and shallow-C 1939-profile neck create a low-fatigue playing feel that suits both flatpicking and fingerstyle. This example is in very good to excellent overall condition, with the finish in very good shape (dings and wear here and there) and no cracks, repairs, or structural issues anywhere on the instrument.

Martin introduced the D-18GE as part of its Golden Era series in the mid-1990s as a recreation of a 1934 pre-war D-18. The "GE" designation signals a specific set of historically accurate appointments: Adirondack spruce top (not the Sitka spruce used on standard production models), scalloped X-bracing with a maple bridge plate, an ebony fingerboard and bridge, a bone nut and saddle, Waverly open-gear nickel tuners, abalone dot inlays, a tortoiseshell celluloid pickguard, and a hide-glue neck joint. The scale length is the standard Martin 25.4". These instruments were built in limited numbers and are now genuinely scarce on the used market, particularly in clean condition. Many of the examples we've seen are so pristine that it is unnerving to play them.  This one has been loved and is ready for more.  The D-18GE occupies a meaningful position for collectors who want the structural and tonal DNA of a 1934 Martin without the fragility and six-figure price tag of the real thing.

Finish is very good with no cracks on top, back, or sides. Fretboard is in excellent condition; frets are very good with some wear and no repairs. Bridge, saddle, nut, bridge plate, and bracing are all excellent and original. All original parts are intact and unmodified — no headstock alterations for the Waverly tuners, which were factory-spec on this model. The included TKL case is non-original but in very good condition; it does carry an odor - it smells a little musty/funky but it is not out of control or cigarette smoky. Action measures 3/32" on both treble and bass sides at the 12th fret. No documentation is included.
