This Gretsch 1967 6122 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman in walnut is in project condition.  It is a solid base for someone to tackle the binding and a slight backbow of the neck in the lower register.  When the work is done, the originality and beauty of the piece will shine and it'll play as good as it looks.

The 6122 Country Gentleman is one of Gretsch's most distinctive hollowbody platforms, and this 1967 example carries several period-correct details worth noting. The ebony fretboard with thumbnail inlays, zero fret, 24.5" scale, and 17" lower bout are all hallmarks of mid-to-late-sixties Gentleman spec. The gold Filter'Tron humbuckers read 4.21k (neck) and 4.20k (bridge) — a well-matched, healthy pair. Switching is the full three-way arrangement typical of the era: pickup selector, tone switch, and standby. The Gretsch-by-Bigsby tailpiece and floating bridge are both original and correct for the year.

On the originality front, this guitar is complete — finish, pickguard and its screws, tuners and tuner screws, nut, neck finish, wiring, solder joints, pots, knobs, switches, output jack, and control cavity cover are all original. The Grover Imperial tuners are in very good shape with no headstock modifications. The main issues that put this in project territory are the neck and the binding. The neck has back bow in the lower register; heat pressing or a refret preceded by a fretboard leveling would address it, and it's being sold as-is. The nut has a chip at the G string (see photos). Body binding is crumbling  throughout — typical of Gretsch guitars of this era. Frets and fretboard are both in good shape otherwise, with no repairs to either. Action measurements are not listed.

The guitar comes in a non-original Anvil case in very good condition, though the case has some off-gassing smell from the foam or lining. For the buyer willing to do the work — or farm it out — this is a fully original, correct-spec '67 Gentleman at a project price.
