The Princeton Reverb is probably the vintage amp that has the highest level of demand these days. This one is outstanding! I call it "near mint", and though you could find a touch of wear here and there, the amp is as clean as any you'll see out there.
Everything here dates to 1964, including the cosmetics and labeling, but it did get a chassis stamp from the second week of 1965. The tube chart is missing, but the original transformers, pots, speaker, and cap date codes are all from 1964. The no-logo grille is a 1964 feature.
I personally serviced the amp with a careful approach to keep it as original as possible while making it reliable for the next owner. The work represents at least $250 to $350 of value, depending on what your tech charges. The filter cap can was replaced, as were the rest of the electrolytic caps, with the new ones hidden in their original paper sleeves. This amp is good to go!
Complete service of an amp also includes:
- Tightening of all pots, jacks, and switches to insure that all are grounded to the chassis
- Cleaning of all tube sockets
- Tightening of power and rectifier sockets
- Cleaning of pots
- Cleaning of jacks
- Power cable replacement
- Check for caps that leak voltage
- Testing of tubes, electronic and microphonic
The pedal is not original to the amp, but it is era correct. The original cover is a very cool part of the package.
Introduced in late 1964, the Princeton Reverb quickly became one of Fender’s most beloved small combo amplifiers, prized for its rich tube tone, manageable volume, and lush onboard effects. This remarkably clean example includes the original cover, a rare and highly desirable detail for collectors and vintage Fender enthusiasts.
Tonally, the Princeton Reverb is famous for its warm, articulate clean tones, tight bass response, and shimmering highs that sparkle without harshness. The single 10-inch speaker keeps the sound focused and balanced, making the amp ideal for studio recording, small clubs, and home playing environments. When pushed, the Princeton transitions into smooth, harmonically rich breakup that responds beautifully to pick attack and guitar volume adjustments. The onboard tube-driven spring reverb is deep and spacious, and the classic, mid-60s tremolo is super sweet.
This near-mint example captures everything players and collectors love about early blackface Princeton Reverbs—beautiful tone, manageable power, and iconic Fender design. It remains one of the most versatile and inspiring vintage recording amplifiers ever produced.
As with all amplifiers at Mahar’s Vintage Guitars, it has been fully inspected, photographed accurately, and professionally evaluated to ensure dependable performance.

Shipping policy:
When you purchase this item you are hereby agreeing to this shipping policy. We remove tubes from amps that could be damaged in shipping. These cases require the buyer to re-install them on delivery - it is very easy with this amp, and we label them so you know exactly where to put them. We do this because we have experienced shipping issues in the past, and this is our prevention measure. Vintage amps are sold as-is because they can need service intermittently. Everything is tested here in our shop on the way into our inventory, and again before shipping. We will cover shipping damage, but we cannot be responsible for the failure of vintage components in 20-to-50-plus year old amps. Shipments will require signature on delivery, no exceptions. If there is damage, the buyer must retain all packing materials intact and picture them immediately and send them to sales@maharsvintageguitars.com. Less than 1% of our shipments are damaged in transit, and we are committed to making sure your item arrives safely, but we are taking these additional measures to make sure you are happy with your purchase.
