Fender Jaguar Bass Hot Rod Red CIJ 2006 w/ hard case & paperwork

The Fender Jaguar Bass arrived at NAMM in 2006 and made an immediate impression — an offset-body bass that drew from the visual language of the classic Jaguar guitar while pairing it with the tonal workhorse setup of the Jazz Bass. This 2006 CIJ (Crafted in Japan) example in Hot Rod Red with matching headstock is from the original production run, built in Fender's Japanese facilities where fit, finish, and consistency were routinely exceptional.

This guitar's Hot Rod Red finish in good condition, the original lacquer intact and showing the kind of honest play wear you'd expect from an instrument nearly two decades old — evidence of a life well played. The 3-ply mint green pickguard is original, showing fair condition with some light marking and two holes added to mount a Jazz Bass style pickup cover.  There is an additional hole on the bass side of the body - someone put the first one in the wrong place I guess.  There are bridge cover holes on the body too, near the bridge.

Under the hood, this Jaguar Bass is running a pair of Fender American Vintage Single-Coil Jazz Bass pickups — a meaningful spec detail that separates these CIJ models from more budget-oriented variants. The bass includes both active and passive modes along with series and parallel switching, giving players a genuinely wide tonal palette for a single-pickup-type instrument. 

The maple neck with rosewood fretboard measures .784" at the first fret and .9475" at the tenth, a comfortable C profile that stays relatively slim across the board — fast and familiar if you're coming from a Jazz Bass background. Pearloid block inlays on the rosewood board (in good condition) give it a touch of visual class. Fretboard radius is 9.5", the nut width is 1-1/2", and the 34" scale length is standard long scale. Action is set at a practical 3/32" on both the first and sixth strings at the 12th fret. The neck presents in very good condition, the pickups in very good condition, and the original Fender 4-saddle vintage-style bridge is present and correct. Tuners are original Fender vintage-style units, all hardware chrome and in good shape throughout. The bass comes with its original hang tags and a generic case in fair condition.
