Fender 1965 Deluxe Amp AB763 Serviced, Excellent

This 1965 Fender Deluxe Amp AB763 is an excellent example in black. The AB763 circuit runs two 6V6 power tubes through a Schumacher output transformer, delivering approximately 22 watts into a single 12" Jensen C12NA speaker. That combination of a relatively compact output stage, an efficient Jensen alnico-cone driver, and a pine cabinet produces the articulate, touch-sensitive clean tone with tight low-end and clear upper-midrange definition that made this circuit and speaker pairing a benchmark for small club amplifiers.

This example carries the AB763 circuit revision, which is generally regarded as the cleaner, more refined version of the Deluxe topology before the CBS-era circuit changes arrived. All three transformers are original Schumacher units: the power transformer carries date code 513 (week 13 of 1965), the choke 513, and the output transformer 512. The speaker is an a Jensen C12NA with manufacturer code 220 and date code 611 (early 1966); cone originality is unknown. These speakers are the perfect match for a Deluxe or Deluxe reverb - it is not the original speaker however.  The rectifier is a GE 5AR4, power tubes are RCA 6V6s, and preamp tubes are a mix of GE and RCA — 12AT7 and three 12AX7s. All potentiometers, knobs, chassis, baffle, and cabinet are original. I updated the electrolytic caps here in the shop, along with the power cable.  The original parts are included. No other internal repairs are noted.

The tolex covering is original black and shows honest wear. The cabinet is in excellent condition with no repairs or changes. The silver sparkle grille is original and in very good condition. The baffle is original and in excellent shape. The chassis is in excellent condition with no alterations. The amp has no odor.

Amplifiers: We take additional precautions to prevent common shipping damage. Depending on the amp, this may include removing tubes, pulling the chassis from the cabinet if heavy transformers present a drop risk, or removing heavy speakers that could crack baffles in transit. Reassembly is required on delivery — we label everything clearly. These measures add to shipping costs but reflect hard-won experience. Vintage amplifiers (20 years or older) are sold as-is — all amps are tested in our shop upon intake and again before shipping. We cover shipping damage but cannot be responsible for the failure of vintage components in instruments that are 20 to 50-plus years old.
