This 2004 Epiphone ES-295 MG is a striking hollowbody electric guitar inspired by one of Gibson’s most visually distinctive and historically important archtop designs.

The original Gibson branded ES-295 debuted in the early 1950s and became famous for its gold finish, ornate pickguard, and lively hollowbody tone. Epiphone’s MG (Metallic Gold) version faithfully captures the look and spirit of that classic instrument while offering modern reliability and affordability.

This example is in excellent condition and plays really well.  There is no perceptible fret wear.  There are no issues, changes, or repairs.  A hard case is included.

It’s a fantastic choice for players who want the classic look and tone of the iconic ES-295 design without the cost of an original vintage example.

Tonally, the ES-295 delivers warm, resonant hollowbody character with rich lows, smooth mids, and clear, singing highs. The guitar excels in clean and lightly driven settings, where its airy resonance and dynamic response really shine. Chords bloom with depth and clarity, while single notes maintain a vocal quality that works beautifully for jazz, blues, rockabilly, and early rock and roll styles. The Bigsby-style vibrato adds expressive pitch modulation and contributes to the guitar’s classic vintage aesthetic.

As with all instruments at Mahar’s Vintage Guitars, it has been fully inspected, photographed accurately, and professionally set up to play its absolute best.

Notable Players / History
The Gibson ES-295 was introduced in 1952 and quickly became associated with rockabilly and early rock guitarists. Legendary players such as Scotty Moore helped cement its place in music history, pairing the guitar with early Elvis Presley recordings. The gold finish, Bigsby vibrato, and ornate appointments made the ES-295 one of the most visually recognizable hollowbody guitars ever produced.
