Danocaster is a small custom shop operation out of Austin, Texas run by Dan Strain, and if you follow boutique Telecaster-style guitars at all, you already know the name. Dan builds guitars that nail the feel and tone of late-1950s Fenders without resorting to relic theater or gimmickry — these are working instruments built to the specs and construction methods that made the originals great. This Single Cut is Danocaster's take on the classic single-cutaway slab-body Telecaster format, and it's a serious piece of work. It comes in Olympic White over an ash body — a combination that's visually clean and historically correct — and it's brand new, straight from the builder.

Here's a classic build: The ash body keeps the weight down to a very manageable 6 lbs 6 oz, which is a real accomplishment in an era when swamp ash has become increasingly difficult to source light. The maple neck runs a comfortable C profile with a 9.5" radius rosewood fingerboard, clay dot inlays, and 6105 frets — 21 of them — all sitting over a 25.5" scale. Nut width is 1-5/8", and the neck carve measures .83" at the first fret and .92" at the twelfth, which puts it in that sweet spot between chunky vintage and modern-playable. Action is set at 2/32" on both the first and sixth strings at the twelfth fret — that's essentially as low as you can go while staying clean, and it plays like it sounds. The bridge is Danocaster's own Tele-style unit with steel saddles and nickel hardware throughout. Pickups are Arcane Inc. '57 single-coils — the neck reads 7.75k and the bridge 7.51k — which are wound to vintage spec and deliver that authentic Tele spank and shimmer without being edgy or thin. The original pickguard, knobs, switch, and pots are all in place. Comes with the Danocaster gig bag.

If you've been chasing the feel of a late-'50s Telecaster but don't want to pay vintage market prices — or take the risk of playing an irreplaceable original — a Danocaster is one of the most credible alternatives on the market. New condition, boutique pedigree, and built to a standard that a lot of production guitars simply can't touch.
