This 2024 Gibson Kirk Hammett “Greeny” Les Paul is a modern tribute to one of the most legendary and storied guitars in rock history. Inspired by the original 1959 Les Paul famously owned by Peter Green, Gary Moore, and now Kirk Hammett, the “Greeny” model captures the unique look, feel, and tonal character that made that instrument iconic. With its aged finish, vintage-correct construction, and distinctive out-of-phase middle position tone, this guitar offers both historical significance and serious musical power.

Tonally, this Les Paul delivers rich, piano-like lows, a vocal and expressive midrange, and smooth, singing highs with exceptional sustain. The hallmark feature—the reversed magnet in the neck pickup—creates the unmistakable hollow, nasal, almost Strat-like quack in the middle position that defined so many classic recordings. In the bridge and neck positions, you’ll find the thick, articulate, and harmonically complex tones that make a great Les Paul so inspiring to play. It responds beautifully to pick attack and volume adjustments, offering everything from glassy cleans to saturated, soaring lead tones.

This example is in near mint condition with light signs of use here and there.  There are no changes, repairs, or issues.  The action is perfect, and the truss rod has room for future neck relief adjustments.  The case is not original, obviously.  There is no paperwork included with the guitar.

As with all instruments at Mahar’s Vintage Guitars, it has been fully inspected, photographed accurately, and professionally set up to play its absolute best.
