Gibson 1959 Les Paul Re-Issue 2000 Tangerine Burst

This 2000 Gibson 1959 Les Paul Reissue in Tangerine Burst got stuck here in the shop for a while.  It stole hearts, and it almost didn't make it to the market.  In the end, cooler heads prevailed and now this beauty is open for business!

This is a stunning example of early Historic-era craftsmanship, capturing the look and feel of the legendary ’59 Standard. Built during a period when Gibson’s Custom Shop was refining its Historic line, this R9 delivers the carved maple top, solid mahogany body, long neck tenon construction.  The top is beautiful, and the color is captivating.  

The weight is pretty right-on too: 8 pounds, 9 ounces.  The pickups are Sheptone branded.  The tone caps were changed out when the pickup swap was performed.  No other parts were changed on the guitar.  The frets are original and they're in beautiful shape. 

The fretboard is also pretty stunning.  It looks like Brazilian rosewood, but it is likely Madagascar Rosewood - a similar wood that is also listed as endangered so it doesn't often appear on more recently built guitars.  

This is a killer player.  It set up perfectly and the truss rod has room for future neck relief adjustment.  The case is a later Gibson Custom Shop Lifton reissue case.  There is some paperwork included.

As with all instruments at Mahar’s Vintage Guitars, it has been fully inspected, photographed accurately, and professionally set up to play its absolute best.
