The blackface Vibrolux Reverb is one of the most versatile and genuinely useful amplifiers Fender built during the mid-1960s. By 1965 the circuit had settled into its mature form under Bob Galbraith's watch — two channels, onboard reverb and vibrato, and a pair of 10" Jensen C10 NS speakers running off a 35-watt, 6L6-powered output section. That speaker configuration — two tens in a relatively compact cabinet rather than the single 12" of a Deluxe Reverb or the four 10s of a Super Reverb — gives the Vibrolux a particular character: a bit more air and spread than the Deluxe, more focused and punchy than the Super, with enough headroom to stay clean at stage volumes while still breaking up naturally when you push it.
All four transformers — power, output, choke, and reverb — are original Schumacher units with manufacturer code 606. The speakers are the original Jensen C10 NS drivers, manufacturer code 220, date-coded to the 40th week of 1965, with cone code 3010B07W2 — both in very good condition. The chassis is original and unmodified, the potentiometers are original with 304 6442 date codes, and the filter caps are original. The rectifier is a 5AR4/GZ34 by Amperex, the power tubes are a pair of 6L6s branded Fender, and the preamp complement consists of two 12AT7s and four 12AX7/7025s, a mix of JJ and Mullard.
The original footswitch is included and in good condition. The power cable has been updated to a grounded three-prong — a sensible and appropriate safety modification on any amp of this vintage. The amp comes with its original cover, which is in fair shape.
Responsible service has been performed. The filter and bypass caps were replaced, along with the bias capacitor. All other components were checked and passed with flying colors. The tubes were all tested. The pots and tube sockets were cleaned, and all the pots and jacks cleaned and tightened. You won't have to visit your tech when you get the amp - it has all been done, saving you hundreds in tech labor.
The date codes here tell a consistent story: transformers from late 1964 into early 1965, speakers from later in 1965, all aligning with a unit assembled in Fullerton during the heart of the blackface era. At 44 pounds it's not a featherweight, but it's among the more manageable amplifiers in this output class, and the combination of reverb, vibrato, and that twin-10 voice makes it one of the most complete working tools Fender ever produced.
If you've been looking for a legitimate blackface Vibrolux Reverb to use seriously, this is the one to move on.

Excerpts from real online end-user reviews:
"Classic black-panel Fender tone, sparkle on the top end, and more headroom than a Deluxe Reverb with lots of volume for those loud stages and loud drummers." - Eastside Music Supply
"The tone is deeper and cleans are a little richer than the Deluxe Reverb, but breaks up a little faster than a like-era Super Reverb." - Reddit / r/GuitarAmps
"Nothing seems to match it for live playing — it covers so many sounds for such a basic amp. The new builders try to copy it, but nothing sounds like a real Blackface VR." - Learning Guitar Now
"It has a super warm tone with lush reverb and a wonderful shimmering vibrato." - Andy Baxter Bass & Guitars

Shipping Policy
By completing your purchase you are agreeing to this shipping policy. Shipments require signature on delivery, no exceptions. Less than 1% of our shipments are damaged in transit, and we are committed to making sure your item arrives safely. If there is damage, retain all packing materials intact, photograph them immediately, and send the photos to sales@maharsvintageguitars.com.
Amplifiers: We take additional precautions to prevent common shipping damage. Depending on the amp, this may include removing tubes, pulling the chassis from the cabinet if heavy transformers present a drop risk, or removing heavy speakers that could crack baffles in transit. Reassembly is required on delivery — we label everything clearly. These measures add to shipping costs but reflect hard-won experience. All amps are tested in our shop upon intake and again before shipping. We cover shipping damage but cannot be responsible for the failure of vintage components in instruments that are 20 to 50-plus years old.
