The Fender 6G15 is one of the most coveted standalone reverb units ever made — a fully tube-driven spring reverb that defined the sound of early '60s surf, country, and rock 'n' roll. Built around a dedicated reverb tank and three controls (dwell, tone, and mix), it delivers depth, dimension, and character that even vintage onboard reverb circuits simply can't replicate. This is the unit players are talking about when they say reverb should feel like a room, not an effect.
This is an early, rough-brown-tolex model that is in excellent shape. I did some service on the unit when it arrived as all the old electrolytic capacitors needed replacement. The new caps are housed in the original cardboard sleeves. The original caps are included with the unit. The power cable was swapped for a grounded one. I added a single-button, repro footswitch to round out the package.
The tubes were tested and the pots cleaned. The handle is a repro replacement. There is a stamp inside the unit from 1963 - perhaps the unit went back to Fender for service at that point, but the only thing I think might be a sign that it was worked on there is the presence of the blue capacitors - everything else is original. This unit is solid and good to go!
Details:
- Condition is good; tolex features minor scuffs and wear consistent with age, unit is fully functional
- All-tube signal path with dwell, tone, and mix controls — capable of everything from subtle ambience to full saturated surf
- The 6G15 with the 9AB3C1B-style tank produces a fuller, more refined reverb than the circuit found in standard Fender combo amps
- Unit is in good condition with expected light age-related wear consistent with a 60+ year old piece
- Includes a non-original foot switch
- This is the 1961 version (6G15-A)
- Filter capacitors have been replaced and power cable grounded — standard and recommended service items that keep the unit running reliably and safely
Excerpts from real online end-user reviews:
- "The 6G15 with the 9AB3C1B tank has a much fuller and more refined sound than the standard Fender AB763 reverb. Of course it can do over the top surf verb, but the dwell, tone, and mix..." - The Amp Garage
- "Cranked, the control drives the tank and circuit into saturation and reverb overdrive can be heard, even under a clean guitar tone." - RetroFret
- "One of the true original standalone Reverb units, the Fender Reverb Tank has been heard on countless classic recordings since the '60s." - Reverb.com

Shipping policy:
When you purchase this item you are hereby agreeing to this shipping policy. We remove tubes from amps that could be damaged in shipping. These cases require the buyer to re-install them on delivery - it is very easy with this amp, and we label them so you know exactly where to put them. We remove the chassis of amps with heavy transformers and ship them separately as their weight can distort the chassis if the box is dropped in shipping. We remove heavy speakers from amps as they can crack baffles, especially amps with particle board baffles. These cases require customers to reassemble amps. It also costs us more. The shipping cost is higher as a result. We do this because we have experienced shipping issues in the past, and this is our prevention measure. Vintage amps are sold as-is because they can need service intermittently. Everything is tested here in our shop on the way into our inventory, and again before shipping. We will cover shipping damage, but we cannot be responsible for the failure of vintage components in 20-to-50-plus year old amps. Shipments will require signature on delivery, no exceptions. If there is damage, the buyer must retain all packing materials intact and picture them immediately and send them to sales@maharsvintageguitars.com. Less than 1% of our shipments are damaged in transit, and we are committed to making sure your item arrives safely, but we are taking these additional measures to make sure you are happy with your purchase.
