This 1960s Silvertone 1413L in stunning Turquoise is one of the coolest looking and most collectible Sears catalog guitars of the era. Built by Harmony in Chicago, the 1413L features a lightweight hardwood body, a comfortable C-profile neck with a rosewood fingerboard, and Harmony’s classic “Hershey Bar” single-coil pickup—known for its bright, microphonic, vintage bite that defined countless garage-rock recordings of the ’60s.

The turquoise finish and white pickguard combo add a level of mid-century charm that makes these models highly desirable among players and collectors of funky vintage electrics. The single pickup offers raw, punchy tones ideal for blues, surf, early rock ’n’ roll, and the gritty lo-fi textures that Silvertone instruments are famous for. Despite its simplicity, the 1413L responds dynamically to picking attack, tube amps, and fuzz pedals, giving it a unique musical personality.

In the 1960s, Silvertone and Harmony guitars were essential tools for beginners and budding rock icons alike—affordable, widely available, and surprisingly musical. Artists like Jack White and Dan Auerbach later helped revive interest in these catalog classics, praising their character-rich tones.

This example is in excellent cosmetic condition with expected patina. The guitar is all original with fully functional electronics with the exception of one tuner button.  The neck is bowed however, with a rise where it hits the body.  The truss rod does not flatten the neck any further, and the string height makes playing uncomfortable past the third fret.  This can be dealt with by removing the frets and leveling the fretboard, which requires a refret.  In its current state, it is either a slide guitar (which sounds really cool), or an awesome looking wall hanger.    At Mahar’s Vintage Guitars, every instrument is inspected, photographed accurately, and professionally set up.
