The Mosrite Combo 1967 is one of most intriguing models from the legendary California guitar builder. Unlike the Ventures solid-body models that gave Mosrite worldwide recognition, the Combo was a semi-hollow design with unique construction and bold electronics.
This particular example stands out with an SP serial number, suggesting it may have been a prototype or special production model, making it more collectible. It also shows the pre-1968 Mosrite of California headstock logo.
There are a couple of changes to the guitar. The original pickups were swapped with Rio Grande Mosrite replacements. The pickguard was replaced - the original is altered and included in the case. There was some ugly work done under the pickguard to accommodate a non-original switch. The pots are changed. The frets are low, but they always are on a Mosrite. The guitar plays well and sounds just as it should.
This Mosrite delivers articulate highs, shimmering cleans, and warm resonance that suits surf, country, and vintage rock styles. The German-carved body and slim Mosrite neck profile enhance both its visual appeal and effortless playability. Its semi-hollow design creates tonal depth and sustain not found in Mosrite’s solid-body lineup, further elevating its desirability.
Included is a non original case.
At Mahar’s Vintage Guitars, every instrument is carefully inspected, professionally set up, and documented with detailed photography, so buyers can shop with complete confidence.
