In the 60s, the H77 was sold under the Silvertone and Airline brand names through Sears and Montgomery Ward. The top of the Harmony line at the time, the H77 provided unique independent toggle switching for each of the three DeArmond gold foil pickups. Later called the H-78, post 1965.
Each DeArmond pickup offers a unique voice—warm and full at the neck, bright and cutting at the bridge, and balanced in the middle positions. The combination of lightweight construction and wide tonal range makes the H77 a favorite for blues, jazz, and early rock players. This example remains in excellent vintage condition, showing tasteful aging and a comfortably broken-in neck.
This is a nice playing example of the H-77. Some have neck challenges, and this one does not. I always caution that these guitars are not Gibsons or Fenders - they just don't play as well - but for those of you who know what to expect, you'll be happy with this one.
The frets show wear, but they are not in need of replacement and will serve you for years.
The only changed part is the strap button at the Bigsby end of the guitar and the added output jack plate. Someone had an issue at the output jack, a common event. The wood there was compromised, so a Gibson style jackplate was added to support the jack. We glued the area and it is now extremely stable and not in danger of further issues under normal use.
Comes with a recent hardshell case.
