I have to be honest - when I purchase this Strat my intent was to part it out. With the tuner change and the natural finish it appeared to be one of those guitars that would be worth more apart than it is together, especially with that killer birdseye maple neck!
Then the guitar came in and I played it. It is one of the better feeling 70's Strats I've come across. This may be due to the professional refret, which included a re-spray of the fretboard after the poly finish was removed to perform the refret.
The guitar is particularly resonant. It is kind of funny too - we all get a little excited when we come across a one-piece body guitar and poo-poo multi-piece bodies, but this one is made up of about 5 pieces, oddly glued together and it kills. It is really hard to tell this is the case from the front, and the main part of the body has some really cool figure to it too.
So, here it is as it is intended rather than in parts - a killer sounding and playing 1974 Strat in natural, with a really nice refret, tuner holes that have been widened from the back and tuners that were once changed/then returned to original. The fretboard (and maybe the back of the neck) have been re-sprayed with nitro lacquer after the refret. I think this is a huge plus - that 70's poly neck finish was really just never a good idea. The headstock and logo was not molested in this effort.
Besides the 3 way switch that was replaced with a modern 5-way switch, the rest of the electronics, hardware, the pickguard, the body finish - all else not mentioned in the paragraph above is original.
Nice original hardshell case included.
