This 1998 Way Huge Green Rhino Overdrive II is a rare and highly collectible original-era pedal from Jeorge Tripps’ legendary ’90s Way Huge lineup—complete with its original box. Known for its thick midrange punch, smooth clipping, and increased low-end presence compared to typical mid-hump overdrives, the Green Rhino II became a favorite among players who wanted Tube Screamer–style feel but with bigger, fuller tone and greater versatility.
We've had a blast tearing through these pedals as we test them prior to listing. This Rhino kicks some serious butt.
This early hand-built example captures everything great about the original Way Huge sound. It delivers warm, touch-sensitive overdrive that responds beautifully to playing dynamics and guitar volume, while maintaining tight low-end definition. The Green Rhino II works equally well as a main overdrive, a gain-stacking tool, or a powerful boost to push tube amps into rich saturation. These original versions are prized for their unique voicing and boutique-era build quality.
Players consistently praise the Green Rhino II: “One of the best low/mid-gain drives ever made” (The Gear Page), “Warm and full without getting muddy” (Reddit r/Guitar), “OG Way Huge pedals are something special” (Harmony Central), “Stacks perfectly with fuzz” (Ultimate Guitar), and “A killer alternative to a TS9” (MyLesPaul Forum).
Way Huge pedals were embraced by artists across rock, alt, and experimental scenes in the ’90s, helping shape the boutique pedal revolution that followed.
