This 1957 Fender Harvard 5F10 is a beautifully preserved, professionally serviced example of one of Fender’s most coveted small tweed amplifiers. Often considered the “missing link” between the Champ and Deluxe, the Harvard delivers about 10–12 watts of touch-sensitive tube tone, powered by a pair of 6V6s and voiced through its original Jensen 10-inch speaker. The result is a lively, harmonically rich tone that moves effortlessly from clean sparkle to sweet, singing overdrive.

This amp retains its original output and power transformers, speaker, grille, and tweed covering, with only necessary servicing performed to ensure stable performance and safe operation. The circuit remains faithful to Fender’s golden-era design, producing dynamic breakup and vintage compression ideal for blues, rockabilly, and early rock tones. Its size and wattage make it perfect for studio use or low-volume gigs while offering pure 1950s Fender tone in spades.

The amp arrived here in nearly 100% original condition, with just a changed power cable and handle.  The original, broken handle is included.  The electrolytic caps were in desperate need of replacement so I swapped them out and housed the new ones inside the original Astron sleeves.  The rest of the amp checked out perfectly, so we tested the tubes, cleaned the pots and tube sockets, and now the amp is 100% ready to rock.  The original parts that I changed out will be included with the amp.

The Fender Harvard debuted in 1955 and was produced until 1960, finding favor with players seeking more headroom than a Champ but less volume than a Deluxe. Its simple design and cathode-biased circuit produced a tone so balanced that later amps—like the Princeton Reverb—owe much to it. Rumored to be a favorite of Steve Cropper and early rock session players, the 5F10 remains one of the most musical and collectible small amps in Fender’s tweed lineup.

At Mahar’s Vintage Guitars, every amplifier is tested, documented, and photographed with precision. We buy, sell, and accept trades on collectible and boutique amps. Explore our Fender Amplifiers Collection, Vintage Fender Guitars, or Sell or Trade Your Gear page.

Shipping policy:

When you purchase this item you are hereby agreeing to this shipping policy. We remove tubes from amps that could be damaged in shipping.  These cases require the buyer to re-install them on delivery - it is very easy with this amp, and we label them so you know exactly where to put them.  We do this because we have experienced shipping issues in the past, and this is our prevention measure.  Vintage amps are sold as-is because they can need service intermittently.  Everything is tested here in our shop on the way into our inventory, and again before shipping.  We will cover shipping damage, but we cannot be responsible for the failure of vintage components in 20-to-50-plus year old amps. Shipments will require signature on delivery, no exceptions.  If there is damage, the buyer must retain all packing materials intact and picture them immediately and send them to sales@maharsvintageguitars.com.  Less than 1% of our shipments are damaged in transit, and we are committed to making sure your item arrives safely, but we are taking these additional measures to make sure you are happy with your purchase.
