This 1962 Fender Deluxe is an exceptionally well-preserved example of one of the most sought-after vintage tube amps of the early 1960s. Finished in original brown tolex with wheat grille cloth, this Deluxe exudes authentic vintage character and classic Fender styling.

This example is in near mint condition, a rare find for a 60+ year-old amplifier. It has been carefully maintained, remains largely original, and performs flawlessly—a true collector-grade piece ready for the stage, studio, or vintage collection.

It even has an original tremolo footswitch!  And speaking of the tremolo - you haven't lived until you've heard a Brown era Fender amp's tremolo!

I could tell that I was the first one to open the amp.  The screws looked untouched and they made a characteristic "pop" when each was released.  I usually offer original examples like this without any work done, but this one had visibly leaking filter caps, which is just not good if someone decides to plug it in and give it a go.

So, I spent some time gently cleaning the entire amp, along with the pots and tube sockets.  I tested all the tubes and ended up putting some RCA preamp tubes in, keeping the Sylvania tubes that were in the amp when it arrived.  I installed a new JJ rectifier tube.

I replaced the filter, bias, and the bypass caps with Vishay and Sprague replacements, housing the new caps in the original cardboard tubes that jacketed the old caps.  I retained all the parts.  I also replaced the power cable with a grounded one, retaining the original.  The handle is original and it is in excellent condition.

The amp now works flawlessly and runs strong and quiet.  This is a really killer example!

Powered by 6V6 tubes and rated at around 20 watts, the amp delivers the warm cleans, smooth overdrive, and touch sensitivity that defined the brownface era.

The original Oxford 12K5-6 12" speaker remains intact, offering vintage-correct tone with rich midrange and sparkling highs. With its dynamic breakup and lush harmonic response, this Deluxe is perfect for blues, surf, rockabilly, and early rock tones.

Shipping policy:

When you purchase this item you are hereby agreeing to this shipping policy. We remove tubes from amps that could be damaged in shipping.  These cases require the buyer to do some assembly on delivery.  We do this because we have experienced shipping issues in the past, and this is our prevention measure.  Vintage amps are sold as-is because they can need service intermittently.  Everything is tested here in our shop on the way into our inventory, and again before shipping.  We will cover shipping damage, but we cannot be responsible for the failure of vintage components in 20-to-50-plus year old amps. Shipments will require signature on delivery, no exceptions.  If there is damage, the buyer must retain all packing materials intact and picture them immediately and send them to sales@maharsvintageguitars.com.  Less than 1% of our shipments are damaged in transit, and we are committed to making sure your item arrives safely, but we are taking these additional measures to make sure you are happy with your purchase.
