The Nacho Telecaster Blackguard (2024) is a boutique masterpiece inspired by Fender’s earliest and most collectible Blackguard Telecasters. Built with meticulous attention to detail by Nacho Banos, the historian and luthier behind The Blackguard Book, this guitar captures the essence of early ’50s Tele tone and feel while adding modern flexibility.

Nocho's guitars have taken the guitar world by storm.  We've seen the popularity jump with each new run from the shop in Spain, along with the prices.  I've had a bunch come through here this year.  The never last, and they're always great.

This particular example features a P-90 neck pickup paired with Ron Ellis bridge and neck pickups, offering a tonal palette that blends fat, articulate warmth with classic Tele twang and bite. The result is a guitar that covers everything from vintage rock and blues to modern roots and Americana. With its hand-aged finish, period-correct hardware, and careful construction, it plays and resonates like a true vintage instrument.

The guitar plays perfectly and sounds amazing.  There are no issues whatsoever, and there is room in the truss rod for future neck relief adjustments.

The guitar was originally built with a P-90 in the neck position, but the Ron Ellis pickups that are in the guitar are not original.  Ron's pickups are amazing, so this isn't really a big bummer, but it will affect the selling price a bit.  The original pickups are not included.  Someone did a good job installing them, but you can tell that Nacho's distinct solder joints are changed.

The original case is also missing.  In its place is a nice Fender "poodle" reissue case.

Included is all of original paperwork and the Nacho thumb drive with his studio pics of the guitar, making this a collectible-grade instrument for serious players and enthusiasts. For those who want boutique craftsmanship and historically faithful tone without the six-figure price of an original Blackguard, this Nacho Telecaster is an outstanding choice.

At Mahar’s Vintage Guitars, every guitar is carefully inspected, photographed, and set up to professional standards so you can buy with complete confidence.

Some player reviews of Nacho guitars from around the interwebs:

“I do think the Nacho communicates more of the old guitar vibe than anything else I’ve had. It’s really really good …” The Gear Page

“This is an outstanding guitar that I believe stands head and shoulders over any Masterbuilt Fender … It feels old, absolutely amazing. The frets … let you feel and dig into bends.” reverb.com

“Felt worn in all the right places. Like someone had played it for 70 years, but with brand new frets and pickups from heaven.” Reddit

“These guitars are not cheap … But every detail is so realistic with attention even to the interior markings and construction.” guitarscanada.com
