The 1960s Kay Jazz II Model K775 is a n iconic vintage hollowbody electric guitar, prized for its bold tone, ornate styling, and iconic "Kelvinator" headstock.

Featuring dual "Kleenex box" pickups, a bound archtop maple body, and a striking sunburst finish, this guitar blends visual flair with a warm, articulate sound perfect for jazz, blues, and rockabilly.

Known for its unique voice, the Jazz II remains a sought-after piece of American guitar history. This example is in excellent vintage condition and represents one of Kay’s finest electric archtops of the era.

Eric Clapton used this style guitar prior to joining the Yardbirds circa 1962, while he was playing in his first band called “The Rooster”. The guitar was purchased from Bells in Surbiton, and according to Eric, he bought it with a little help from his grandmother.

"The Kay was the guitar that my grandmother bought me on the “hire-purchase” scheme. That got me into the band, and then we started making money, I found I had nothing else to spend it on but guitars, so maybe once a month I bought a guitar." -Eric Clapton.

This example is in excellent condition, with far less wear than you typically see.  The frets are in amazing shape.  The beck of the neck is especially clean - there really is just some wear around the edges here and there, see the back of the headstock for instance.  There are two areas of missing neck binding, see pics.

The only changed part - one tone knob.  I didn't have an original replacement, but I found a Guild knob in my stash that looks pretty close.

The original case is in nice shape too.
