This is a killer Player's Telecaster / Esquire - a light example at 6 pounds, 15 ounces.
This guitar lived for years at Guitar Showcase in San Joes, CA. At that time, the body was finished in red. Our employee, Rich Longachre, demo'd many an amp with this axe that was held back from sale for years. It eventually sold, and the body was subsequently refinished.
There is a mix of stuff here... The neck is a 1968 "maple cap" Fender Esquire neck. It plays really well and has room in the truss rod for future neck relief adjustments. There are no new holes in the neck - no work was done to it, though I do believe that the frets were replaced (the work is very professional). The original, late 60s "F Tuners" are still installed on the neck.
The body retains its date in the bridge pickup cavity - 2/60. The body shows the features it should to be a 1960. There are no routes anywhere. The bridge pickup screws did add shallow holes in the bridge pickup cavity however.
The bridge is a late 60's version with threaded saddles.
The bridge pickup is a black-bottom killer and it has the masking tape under the brass baseplate as well as the original cloth wiring. The neck pickup is a replacement - possibly a Duncan. The switch is an original, early 60s unit.
The knobs and control plate are original 60s parts. The pots are changed. The strap buttons are original. The pickguard is a repro. The neck plate has a 1970 serial number.
The guitar plays and sounds like a vintage Tele should.
This is the perfect stage guitar for those who don't want to bring a fully original piece out to gigs.
Recent Fender hard case included.
The parts here are worth more than the combined guitar for sure, but this is just too good a guitar to break up.
