The DiMarzio Air Norton is a neck humbucker built around a specific tonal philosophy: extended bass and treble response with a scooped midrange, designed to keep the neck position clear and articulate rather than muddy. The Air Norton uses DiMarzio's patented Air coupling technology, which replaces the standard bottom plate with an air gap to reduce magnetic pull and let the strings vibrate more freely. The result, grounded in the physics of the design, is a pickup with enhanced dynamics, reduced compression, and a warmer yet more open character than a conventional neck humbucker. This example reads 12.14k on the meter and presents in mint, new old stock condition.

DiMarzio introduced the Air Norton in the mid-1990s as a companion to the Tone Zone bridge pickup, and it became one of their most popular neck humbuckers for players in the rock and fusion market. The 'BS' suffix designates the black and silver color configuration — black bobbins with a nickel/silver cover — making it a versatile visual fit for a wide range of instruments. New old stock examples like this one have never been installed, retaining the full integrity of the original wind and lead dress. The 12.14k reading is consistent with a standard production Air Norton, which DiMarzio specs in the 10–13k range depending on the individual unit.

We have no issues to report on this pickup. It is new old stock — uninstalled, no solder on the leads, no mounting wear. Condition is as clean as it gets for a used market item.
