Gretsch Black Falcon G6136DSBK 2013 Dynasonic Pickups Near Mint

Wow, this Gretsch G6136 Black Falcon is amazing!  It plays like a dream, resonates like crazy, and the DynaSonic pickups are just outstanding.  If you like this one, check out the white version from 2009 that came in at the same time as this example - it is similarly awesome.  

The G6136DSBK is a specific variant of the flagship Falcon line — the DS designation confirming the DynaSonic pickup configuration, and the BK indicating the black finish. The standard Falcon runs Filter'Tron humbuckers; this version was a limited-production alternative that has since gone out of production, making it a harder find than the standard model. The Black Falcon itself has been in production in various forms since the 1950s, originally as a top-of-the-line professional instrument. The 2013, Made in Japan Professional Series examples are well-regarded for build consistency and hardware quality, and this one checks out on both counts.

The body is laminated maple — a 17-inch lower bout, 2-7/8-inch deep — which is large even by hollowbody standards and contributes to the guitar's substantial acoustic presence. The 25.5-inch scale is longer than the vintage Gretsch standard, giving the strings more tension and a slightly tighter, more focused feel. The ebony fretboard carries mother-of-pearl hump block inlays with feather engraving, and the 12-inch radius runs flatter than vintage spec, which helps across the full 22-fret range. Hardware is all gold throughout: Grover Imperial tuners, a Space Control roller bridge on an ebony base, and the Gretsch "G" Cadillac tailpiece. Gold sparkle body binding ties the look together against the black finish.

Overall condition is near mint. The black finish is original and shows no significant wear. The ebony fretboard and frets are in excellent shape. All hardware — tuners, bridge, tailpiece, pickguard — is original and in excellent condition. Electronics are fully original: original solder joints, wiring, pots, and output jack, with no modifications. This guitar has been well cared for and presents cleanly.

No issues to report. Action is 2/32" on both the first and sixth strings at the 12th fret — low and even. The neck is a standard "U" profile, 0.8375" at the first fret and 0.9235" at the tenth, with a 1-5/8" nut width and 12" fretboard radius. Strings are 10-46. Weight is 8 lbs. Comes with the original Gretsch hardshell case in excellent condition, certificate of authenticity, and original hang tags.
