Epiphone 1968 E-252 Broadway Archtop Husk Project Poor

Here we have a 1968 Epiphone E-252 Broadway archtop husk in sunburst — sold as a project at project pricing. The guitar came in strung up and it did play pretty well, but the amalgamation of non-original parts and the binding issues on the guitar made us decide to part it out.

The Broadway was Epiphone's full-size 17" archtop from the Gibson-owned New York and later Kalamazoo production era, a fully hollow instrument with the visual and acoustic presence of the classic American archtop platform. This example has been routed for full-size humbuckers at both the neck and bridge positions, making it a ready platform for a builder who wants to drop in a pair of PAF-style or other full-size humbuckers and wire a complete instrument.

The neck is a three-piece mahogany/maple construction in a C profile, very good condition with no repairs, carrying the original rosewood fingerboard with mother-of-pearl block inlays in excellent condition. Frets are good. The body finish is in very good condition — better than the condition grade suggests. The body binding is in poor condition and is the primary cosmetic issue. No hardware, electronics, pickups, bridge, or tailpiece are included — this is a body and neck husk only, priced accordingly for a builder or restorer who wants the platform and will supply the rest.
