The small but impactful 0-18 has moved way up the list of players and collectors in recent years for several reasons.  For one, the rising tide of pricing for all vintage Martin guitars has lifted all boats.  Additionally, smaller body guitars in general have become more sought after for their tone and balance.  Another driver is the fact that they're so comfortable to play.  Just 625 0-18s were shipped by Martin in 1952.

This is a particularly fine example.  It is obvious that the guitar had not been played much by prior owners.  The frets are in amazing shape, as is the rest of the guitar.

However, on arrival at our shop, the guitar needed a neck reset.  We sent it off to our friend Jeff Hoppe at South Sound Guitar Repair in Tacoma, WA.  He did a beautiful job on the reset, and he crafted bone saddle, nicely compensated for better intonation.  A slight top crack was addressed in the process, and the formerly warped, original pickguard was flattened and re-secured to the guitar.  See the pictures that show the top and inside the guitar to see his work.

The guitar now plays perfectly.  We sent Jeff a set of period correct tuners as the guitar arrived with a more recent set of Klusons.  The changed tuners did not change the headstock, so there are no extra holes related to the swap.  The set now on the guitar does have two tuners that are built a little different than the other four, perhaps being a year or two newer.  They are all vintage machines.  The screws holding the tuners on may or may not be original.

There are a few nice, 50s 0-18s out there, but this one seems to be the best!

Original chip case included, showing typical wear.
