This poor Vega C-46 advanced archtop took some damage and received a genuine redneck repair.  Too bad, because it actually sounds really good and plays pretty well too - it must have been a good one prior to the unfortunate event that resulted in the repair.

The neck heel and upper edge of the guitar cracked ages ago, and someone "repaired" it with a carriage bolt  - right through the neck heel.  They removed a piece of the fretboard to pull this off.  Id guess that the repair is 30 plus years old - it isn't going anywhere, and an intrepid soul could take a shot at getting the repair right.

Someone scratched the name Loretta in the fretboard.  The legend that passed to me with this guitar is that a former owner's band was on the road with Loretta's for several years.  They'd hang out in hotels and tour busses, playing and singing, handing guitars around.  There is only verbal support of this story, but I found it to be believable as the gentleman who sold me the guitar had no  skin in the game to make such a thing up.  Perhaps the friend who sold him the guitar named this one after Loretta to remember the good old days.  Who knows.

Includes the likely original case.
