The RAT 2 is the refined version of the original RAT, adding a clipping LED and the Filter control that replaced the original Tone knob — Filter sweeps from bright and cutting to dark and woolly, running in reverse from what most tone controls do.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe 1998 USA-made flat box designation identifies this as Kalamazoo-era production — the period before ProCo's manufacturing moved to China, and the version that collectors and players specifically seek out for the LM308 op-amp and build quality of that era.
