Transparent overdrives in this class are built around the idea of pushing an amp's front end rather than coloring the signal heavily — the Timmy in particular is known for its wide-ranging bass and treble cut controls that allow the player to dial in or remove frequencies rather than adding them, producing a character that tends to reflect the amp and guitar in front of it more than it imposes its own voice.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe MXR Custom Shop Timmy Mini packages the full Timmy circuit — including the independent bass and treble cut controls, gain, and volume — into a smaller footprint than the standard-size version, making it practical for crowded pedalboards. The controls include Gain, Volume, Bass, and Treble, all on a single-knob-row layout across the face of the mini enclosure. The pedal runs on standard 9V DC.
