Here we have a beautiful, fully hand made classical guitar from luthier Matthew Rubendall.
The distinctively original headstock really stands out, and the guitar has a sturdy well built feel while being light and resonant. The guitar exhibits the finest craftsmanship with a light French polish finish that is light and adds to the resonance of the piece. The elevated fretboard is a really nice touch, making upper fret play very accessible.
The guitar has been played a good bit, showing some wear through the finish on the treble side of the soundhole and a ding here and there.
Onboard is a K&K Powermix XT pickup system. The output jack is a stereo/TRS unit that allows the use of an external blender or two channels of a mixer or acoustic amp to dial in the best of both pickup elements.
Comes with a high end Mono gig bag. The guitar will be well protected in shipment. I'll try to get a nice set of strings before it ships - the strings are old. But, I'm not so sure whether I can get a 7 string classical set around here!
This guitar would cost over $8000 to build today.

I have been building and repairing guitars for nearly twenty years, always striving toward the ideal of craftsmanship. After many successes—and some failures—I continue to work to make each guitar better than the last, not only for the musician who will play it but also for myself, always looking to meet a higher standard.
Though my approach combines modern and traditional elements of guitar construction, I rely on hand tools and traditional methods whenever possible, even when it lengthens the process. My standard model loosely recalls the body style of a Herman Hauser I. I use elevated fretboards for playing comfort and stability, and compensated nuts and saddles to keep my instruments playing perfectly in tune. I handcraft the rosettes and decorative details that are unique to each guitar, and finish every instrument with the French polish technique.
The overall sound quality I'm looking to achieve is based on balance. I want to have a piano like openness with a consistent note quality between each string. I'm more concerned with the musicality of the notes rather than building merely for loudness for its own sake. Using these tools along with a personalized approach to wood choices and playing style I can achieve a wide tonal palette while maintaining my own sound.
Every guitar is made entirely by hand, using the highest grade woods available. Each rosette is handmade and unique, and all instruments are finished with the French polish technique. The focus is on the craftsmanship in every detail, with a concentration on achieving a full sound and well-balanced range of tones.
Commissioned guitars are built to meet individual needs and preferences, with customized options that include scale length, fretboard width, neck dimensions, and tuners. I will be happy to work with you to find the right combination of woods to tailor the sound to your tastes and offer ideas as to what will create the look, sound, and feel best suited to your playing style.
All guitars come with a standard hard-shell case. A non-refundable deposit is required for commissioned instruments, with the balance due on delivery. Certain wood and tuner choices may add to the final price.
