Here we have a rare beauty, a Kauer guitar that was made in extremely limited quantities.

There is a story about this guitar, one about a business deal that went awry, but that's something I'll just share with the buyer of the guitar..

Another tidbit: this axe was the prize in a raffle at the first KauerPallooza event, and a friend who shopped in my old music store for years won the raffle.  He took great care of it over the last 7 years or so and asked me to list it for him, so here it is.

Beautifully built of quality woods, electronics and hardware, the guitar just jumps out at you on first sight.  The long scale is apparent immediately, and the size of the instrument could be considered to be impending to some, but it is amazingly light and comfortable to play, seated or standing.  I spoke with Dough Kauer about the guitar, and he said the idea was to make a guitar that sounded as much like a piano as possible.  Having played it before hearing this, the statement immediately rang with me and described what I felt and heard while playing it.

Here is some other info on this absolutely stunning guitar:

The prospect behind designing this guitar is based on what many considers as ergonomic shape and transparent sound. Kauer Guitars decided to improve on the thinline design by employing trial and error methods until they came up with the shape and specifications that satisfied them.

At the core of the Acadian is a body and neck carved from Spanish Cedar. This wood selection is said to help in retaining the warmth of classic archtop while being lightweight, toneful and snappy. The body features a ported semi-hollow interior that is unique to Kauer Guitars.

As a result of their testing, they found that the 26.25" scale is best suited for this guitar, long enough for providing enough space for big hands while not small enough for use with most people's hand size.

They also equipped the guitar with the 2Tek bridge, which is described as a bridge that promotes transparent guitar tones that are ideal for jazz. This bridge also serves as the center of gravity, it helps maintain the balance of the guitar in both sitting and standing positions.
