70s.

The Made in USA stamp typically means that the guitar was made in 1970 or later. The serial number on this guitar is one that could be from 1970 to 1972. However, there are features that are more like 1969 versions.

For one, it is equipped with P-90 pickups. Also, it has the "transitional", medium length neck tenon. It also has a dot over the "i" in Gibson, which is documented to have been eliminated from the model in 1969.

The three piece neck and "pancake" body are very much mid 1969 and later features, as are the large headstock and the volute at the base of the headstock.

The P-90 pickups sound amazing, and the guitar plays really well. There are no cracks, breaks or structural repairs. The fretboard is really dark and gorgeous.

There are some changes, however. The tuners were once changed to recent Gibson Deluxe tuners. Original, period correct tuners are now on the guitar. The frets were replaced some time ago. They have plenty of life left and feel great. Three of the pots are changed, and the one original has the date code covered. One of the original tone caps was swapped out. The output jack was changed when I received the guitar. It wasn't working well so I put a new Switchcraft jack in. The bridge ground wire may have been changed. The jack plate is changed. Everything else on the guitar is original.

There is wear throughout. The guitar has the look! The case is correct for the era, and I assume it is original to the guitar. The hinges on the case are not working. The latches do keep it securely closed.

Shipping
