{"product_id":"fender-1956-5e9-tremolux-tweed-amp","title":"Fender 1956 5E9 Tremolux Tweed Amp, Serviced, Excellent","description":"\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eNo sales tax for US customers outside California.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis Fender 1956 5E9 Tremolux in tweed is in excellent condition.  There are some worn corners on the cab, but everything important is original, and it is running perfectly.  The big cabinet lends some beef to this circuit - the Tremolux is a killer sounding amp!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is a 15 watt 1x12 tweed Tremolux that has been serviced, getting a cap job and a new power cable.  The tubes were tested, and the pots\/sockets\/jacks were cleaned. Coupling caps were updated as the original, yellow Astron caps were leaking voltage.  The cabinet, tweed covering, oxblood grille, baffle and knobs are all original.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe 12\" Jensen P12R is original, with a date code of 649, and so are the Triad power transformer and output transformer. The only changes aside from the service work are the two chassis mount screws and the handle. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt has an RCA 5U4 rectifier, a pair of Sylvania 6V6 power tubes, and 2 x ECC83 and a 12AY7 in the preamp. A repro \"door stop\" pedal is included, along with the original Victoria Luggage amp cover, which is in very good condition. There is no documentation.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFender introduced the Tremolux in the summer of 1955, and it was the first Fender amp with a built-in effect. It started out at 15 watts with cathode bias, a pair of 6V6 output tubes and a 5Y3 rectifier. In 1957 the power went up to 18 watts, with a fixed bias design and a 5U4 rectifier. In 1961 it became a piggyback with oxblood grille cloth and cream tolex, and it stayed in the line until the summer of 1966. For a stretch in 1963-64 it even shared its circuit with the Vibrolux.
