SOLD - Eddie Bush Special Magnatone Varsity Amp 1954

This is a rare version of the mother-of-toilet-seat beauty that is the Magnatone Varsity.
Over the years I've seen many of these amps, often with their accompanying lap steel, but with Magnatone branding. I had to do some poking around when this amp found me.
There isn't much info out there, but it does appear that the George Bronson Company (noted on the chassis) contracted with Magnatone to make these amps and lap steels, featuring the name of the prominent steel player from the 30's that had graced the stages of Southern California for years.
The amp is in excellent shape with the exception being the addition of a replacement handle. The original leather handle hardware is there, and the new handle required holes to be drilled into the top of the cabinet.
The circuit appears to be completely original. The amplifier does work and sounds as these do. The speaker is original and is in better shape than most I've seen. In the end, this is more of a looker than a player, but it does check both boxes. It'll need a filter cap replacement if you want to use it for real however.
