Carl Bergonzi Anno 1733 Violin early 1900's Traditional Brown
$175.00No sales tax for customers outside California.
This Carl Bergonzi is a full size violin, made in Germany around the turn of the century. I brought it to our local violin expert, Ryan Davidson, to figure out just what I'd found.
It turns out that the violin has seen better days. The top is caved a bit, enough to compromise it from a player's perspective. Furthermore, the sound post once pushed a crack into the back, which was not repaired all that well.
If someone has the repair skills and can put the sweat equity into the instrument, Ryan told me that it could turn out to be a nice piece. He said that the sound of the final product would dictate the price, but that this wouldn't be known until someone gets the instrument right.
The case is probably original. Someone seems to have coated the outside with something like Flex Seal.
