A recent influx of offsets has us reeling here at MVG.  Jazzmasters in particular keep us up at night!

This is the prime example of an investment grade Fender solidbody.  1958 is the first year of Jazzmaster production, and an all-original example like this is highly sought after.

Gold 'guard Jazzmasters benefit from the anodized aluminum pickguard - it will never shrink like the guards on models from late 1959 and on.  The tendency of the pickguards to shrink on later models poses a maintenance issue and can negatively affect playability.  Plus, these pickguards just look cool, and delineate the instrument as one of the earliest examples.

This guitar has a story, but one that is documented only in the name written on the outside of the case: "Clyde".  The story is that Clyde Hill owned the guitar, recognized by Alabama's Music Hall of Fame as a guitar player in The Country Pals.  Rick Hall, known as "the Father of Muscle Shoals Music", founded Fame Studios, produced country hits and assembled the house band, The Swampers (aka Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section), who are featured in countless hits by Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Percy Sledge, the Stones, Bob Dylan.  Anyhow, it is said that the heavy-smoking Clyde hung about the place and that this guitar was a favorite in the studio.  Clyde's smoking left an impression on the guitar and the case (though there is no cigarette smell present) - the nicotine effect on the headstock logo triggered a nickname for the guitar: "The Baconator", credit to a friend and the previous owner of this fine piece.

Frets on the guitar have been leveled and show plenty of wear.  It is absolutely playable, but if you would intend to really rock this guitar you'll be looking at a refret.  The entire instrument is original with no modifications.  The truss rod is effective.  The original tweed case couldn't possibly have more mojo factor.

SO here you have it!  Come and get it!
