These basses have been hot for a while now.  They just sound and look so cool, they're light and comfortable to play, and they're just hard to resist.

This example shows playwear but the frets are in good shape and not in need of work.  The bass set up really well for us and plays great.  The truss rod was checked and does have room for future adjustment.

Changes include:

One tuner has had the shaft and gear replaced.  Fortunately the original bass plate and lolipop part of the tuner are there so there are no new holes in the headstock.

The volume pot must have had something going on - for some weird reason the back can has been opened up.  It appears to be original to the bass, and it works well.

The pickups are from an early 80s Bullet Bass - very faithful and good sounding replacements that are nearly identical in construction to the originals.

The case looks to be original, but the construction and covering are obviously different than the 60's case we usually see with these basses.  It could be a case that was included with the bass as an exported instrument.  Fender shipped guitars and basses in the 60s to other countries without cases, and distributors overseas would source their own.
