Here we have yet another tweed amp, part of a remarkable selection that has developed here at Mahar's Vintage Guitars.
This Vibrolux was very professionally recovered by Uncle Spot some years ago. His work is exemplary!
The circuit is largely original with just the filter caps changed, an important update if you care to play your amp regularly. As you likely know, filter camps that are failing are dangerous for your amp's power supply and any that are more than 20 years old are likely to require an update.
The amp works perfectly as it should and sounds amazing. Parts and the speaker date to 1960.
The Fender Vibrolux was introduced in 1956, after Fender's transition to narrow panel circuits and cosmetics. The Vibrolux is known for that classic Fender tweed break up and deep tremolo at a comfortable studio or home volume level. The 5F11 Vibrolux circuit produces 10-12 watts from a pair of 6v6 power tubes and 12ax7 preamp tube. An additional 12ax7 drives the phase inverter and tremolo sections.
