This 1962 Fender 6G2 Princeton Amp is so tasty.
The amp has been lightly and responsibly serviced. The filter cap can is a recent and positive update. The first cap on the board was replaced as well. The power cable has been changed too a modern three-prong.
The rest of the circuit is original. The transformers are original, dating to late 1962. The handle is original and naturally shows some wear,
The speaker is a 1968 Oxford. It is a good deal beefier than the original, and it is a great improvement as far as I'm concerned. I've been putting the 12" version of this speaker into Deluxe amps when they come in with replaced speakers and I've found that the bass response is so much better than others. They still break up, but you get a little more headroom, and they're more musical than a JBL or something like that - definitely better than a modern Celestion or other choice.
The amp runs perfectly and sounds big for a Princeton. It is pretty much the perfect amp.
