I've had a few Underwoods come through, and this one takes the cake.  I am one many Danocaster freaks, and this one directly rivals the many Danos that I've owned and played over the last few years.

The guitar is very resonant and acoustically has a voice that most solidbodies don't.  The lightweight ash body likely has a lot to do with this, but it just seems to me that these small, custom makers somehow know how to select woods to get this character, because this is what I always love about Danocasters as well.

The neck is pretty chunky, but not the biggest.  I guess I'd call it a Thick C, but I usually just shy away from neck shape naming these days, opting for the used of the Stew Mac neck shape gauge - see the pics.  Chad's fretwork is always stellar, as is the case here.

The Budz pickups shine in this guitar, as they always do.

Overall, a supremely kick a$$ Tele!

What sets Chad's instruments apart from the pack are his tireless attention to the most minute details, coupled with a deep knowledge of and passion for the classic '50s to mid '60s Fullerton masterpieces. The burnished quality of an Underwood will feel immediately familiar and second nature to even the most demanding vintage fanatic. Rounded fretboard edges, effortless playability, extraordinary resonance, low end response and seemingly endless sustain are the hallmarks of Chad's guitars. Chad's patented nitrocellulose lacquer based finishing process lovingly and faithfully recreates the feel and visual appeal of a played in 50 year old guitar.
