This 1965 S. Yairi classical guitar is a really nice piece that has aged well since it was made in 1965.

It has a warm, woody tone and is quite resonant.  The top is beautiful, tight-grained spruce with a sweet pumpkin hue.  The fretboard is something else - a beautiful slice of Brazilian.  The back and sides are mahogany, with unique figure.  Our shots inside the guitar show the unique, obviously hand-fit neck joint.

The guitar has been played, but not beat.  There is superficial wear throughout, and there are a few spots on the back where the clear coat has been touched up.  The rest of the finish is original.  There are no cracks anywhere on the guitar.

This is a nice playing guitar.  It is not a high-end, performance level instrument, but it is well made and will solidly fill the need for a nylon string guitar.

Some history:

Sadao or Sada Yairi was a guitar maker and guitar manufacturer from Nagoya, Japan who was active from the 1930s to the 1990s. He sold guitars under a number of labels including Sadao Yairi, Yairi Gakki, S. Yairi, Yairi and Son, and Sada Guitar. He also manufactured guitars for B&M (distributed in the UK) Lowden, Aria, Morris, Fender, and a few guitars for Alvarez of St. Louis Music during the early 1970s. During the early 1990s, he had a line of handmade guitars sold by Samick in S. Korea.
