We've looked and looked, and we cannot find another guitar made by Josef Shamey, which is really too bad because this is quite the guitar!  There is a small placard inside the guitar bearing his name.,  I assume that it was made in the 70's or perhaps the early 80s.

Big, full sound is what you can expect from this guitar.  It plays really well too, with a great neck set and lots of saddle height.  The frets have been milled but have plenty of life left to enjoy.

The wood selection is right on - a gorgeous, tightly grained spruce top and dark-stained, flamed maple back and sides.  The mahogany neck comes to a very soft V shape that isn't too big nor too small. The fretboard is made of deep, dark ebony, as is the bridge.

The entire guitar is multi-ply bound in tortoise.  Older Grover Patent Pending tuning machines grace the headstock, along with a custom abalone inlay in the shape of a mallard.

There is an older pickup system installed, which works, but I'm not sure what it is.  It might be a Barcus Berry system, but I can't promise that.

The guitar was a prized possession of a dear friend of mine who found my music store back in the mid to late 90's.  We became friends and partners in the vintage guitar effort, traveling to shows all over the country.  He unfortunately passed two years ago.  This is one of the last guitars of his that I am offering for sale for his wife.  You can tell how much he loved the guitar - he played it regularly for years, and the mojo is there to prove it!

Comes in a new Gator hardshell case.

The frets are played and could use a mill and crown, but it is definitely playable as is.  This will be the perfect camping/beach guitar, something you don't have to stress about and sound killer doing it!
